This Week in Leaks: September 25, 2026

This week's leaks came out of big tech, the EU's law-making machinery, entertainment, an investment bank, and government offices on three continents — all information that was not intended for the public domain:

• Microsoft executive organization and Xbox studio memos leak
  September 23 and 24, 2026
  Memos from Microsoft's chief executive and its vice chair told staff how the company's communications function is being restructured, and a day earlier a memo from the president of its Bethesda game studio told employees there what a studio reorganization means for them.

• EU Council presidency's draft compromise text leaked
  September 21, 2026
  A draft compromise text on the EU's Digital Omnibus regulation, circulated to member states by the Irish presidency of the Council of the EU, was published in full alongside Germany's written comments on it.

• Disney's legal department memo leaked
  September 24, 2026
  An internal memo from Disney's chief legal and global affairs officer to his department set out what staff should expect from a restructuring the company has not announced.

• ‍US General Services Administration's staffing email leaked
  September 24, 2026
  An internal email to the agency's technology staff setting out reassignment and departure options reached reporters.

• Belgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs' internal assessment leaked
  September 24, 2026
  An internal working document reassessing Belgium's relationship with the United States reached a news outlet, and the ministry said it should not be read as agreed policy.

• ‍New Zealand Ministry of Education's staff meeting recording leaked
  September 21, 2026
  A video recording of an internal staff meeting was passed to journalists by a ministry insider, and the ministry has opened an internal review.

• US State Department's unreleased draft statement leaked
  September 23, 2026
  An unpublished draft statement prepared for the Secretary of State, criticizing allied trade measures, reached reporters after senior officials decided against issuing it.

• ‍Morgan Stanley's investment banking deal list leaked
  September 24, 2026
  An internal list of the bank's live and prospective deal mandates went to the wrong recipients when an employee sent it in place of the client version, and a blurred copy later circulated on social media.

• Port of Seattle's airport lounge documents investigated as a leak
  September 24, 2026
  A commission vice president demanded an inquiry into how details of an airport lounge lease reached Reddit before the vote, after the port had published the memo and the staff presentation in its own meeting packet.

Why it matters...

No outside attacker appears anywhere on this list. Three of this week's leaks were memos written by senior executives to their own staff. Two were government drafts circulating before anyone meant to publish them. One was a recording carried out of a meeting room, one a working paper about a ministry policy, and one an email about who keeps their job. Only the deal list was an accident, and even that ended up photographed and posted online.
